Miele Is A Different Discipline
A Miele machine is built to a different standard than mainstream appliances. Stainless drums where competitors use plastic. Honeycomb drum patterns that handle delicates better. Modular boards designed for component-level repair instead of whole-board swaps. Cast iron weights instead of concrete. Filters and seals you can replace without disassembling the whole machine.
That engineering is great if your tech knows what to do with it — and frustrating if he doesn’t. We’ve been working on Miele for over a decade. We have the special tools, the manufacturer documentation, and most importantly the experience to diagnose Miele the way it’s meant to be diagnosed: with the diagnostic mode, the actual error logs, and the proper test procedures.

Common Miele Repairs
Washer
“Loud during spin / drum unbalanced” — Drum bearing replacement. Miele drum bearings outlast everyone else’s, but they do eventually fail (typically year 12-15 on heavily-used machines). It’s an all-day repair done right. We’ve done dozens.
“Door won’t unlock” — Door interlock module or safety circuit. Common, replaceable.
“Won’t drain / pump runs but no water moves” — Drain pump or impeller. Miele pumps are accessible from the front — it’s actually one of the easier repairs on these machines.
“TwinDos system not dispensing” — TwinDos pump module or detergent line. We service TwinDos.
“Error F-XX flashing on display” — Miele uses a documented fault code system. We plug into the diagnostic port, read the actual fault history, and fix the specific failure rather than guessing.
Dryer
“Heat pump dryer won’t heat / takes forever” — Heat pump module, refrigerant circuit, or condensate pump. Miele heat-pump dryers are remarkable but they require specialized service. We have the diagnostic equipment.
“Drum won’t turn” — Belt, motor, or drum support roller. Standard repair done carefully (Miele tolerances are tight).
“Won’t drain condensate” — Condensate pump or hose blockage. Common.
Dishwasher
“Won’t drain” — Drain pump (a specific Miele pump, not interchangeable with mainstream brands). We carry it.
“Doors won’t latch” — Door latch or hinge spring. Specific to the Miele platform.
“Lights flashing / not starting” — Control board, NTC sensor, or door switch. We diagnose with proper procedure.
“Spray arms not rotating” — Spray arm bearings (replaceable separately on Miele, unlike most other brands), or pump/motor.
Ovens & Steam
“Steam oven not generating steam” — Water reservoir pump, descaling needed, or steam generator failure. We carry the parts.
“Combi oven error code” — Miele’s combi units have detailed fault logs we can read. Specific repair pinpointed quickly.
“Touch controls dead” — User interface board. Replaceable.
What Miele Repairs Cost
Miele parts are at the higher end (genuinely — that’s Miele’s pricing, not our markup), but the repairs are worth doing because the machines last so long.
- Washer drum bearing: $620–$880 (full day’s work)
- Drain pump: $280–$380
- Dryer heat pump module: $940–$1,400 (rare; the pump itself is expensive)
- Dishwasher control board: $440–$620
- Steam generator pump: $320–$440
- Oven temperature sensor: $220–$320
- Service call diagnostic: $129 for Miele (waived with repair)
When Miele Repair Pays Off
Almost always. A Miele washer with a failed drum bearing at year 12 is still a $4,000 machine that has 8+ years left. The bearing repair is $700-900 — the math is overwhelming.
The exception is the Miele units from before about 2008 with multiple cumulative failures. At 18+ years old and $1,500+ of repairs needed, replacement starts to make sense. We’ll tell you honestly.
A Note On Miele Counterfeit Parts
There’s a real problem in the LA market with non-OEM “Miele-compatible” parts being sold and installed. They don’t last and they sometimes damage the machine. We use Miele OEM parts only. It costs more upfront and saves money on the back end.
